Questions roofers ask

Questions and answers

What RoofPiq is, how it measures and prices a roof, and where each part of it stands today.

What is RoofPiq?

RoofPiq is software for roofing companies. It measures a roof by satellite from the street address and prices it from the company's own price book, as good, better and best ranges. It comes as a quote widget for the roofer's website, a field tool for door-to-door reps, and a printed mailer for when nobody is home.

How does the instant roof quote widget work?

A homeowner types their address on your website. RoofPiq measures the roof by satellite, the homeowner confirms it is their house and answers a few quick questions, and three price ranges appear: good, better and best. They then leave a name, phone and email, and you get the lead with the roof size attached.

How accurate is a satellite measurement?

It is built to land within about one square on a typical roof. Very steep or cut-up roofs can be off by more, which is why homeowners see a range and the final price comes after your on-roof inspection.

Does this replace my measurement reports?

For quoting, yes. Order a full report only on the jobs that commit, not on every lead that asks for a price.

Where do the prices come from?

From your price book. You set a price per square for each tier, upcharges for steep pitch, extra stories and extra layers to tear off, and a minimum job. Every quote on your website and in the field is worked out from those numbers.

Does the homeowner see one price or a range?

Always a range. Each of the three tiers shows a low and a high figure and what it includes. The final price follows your on-roof inspection.

What happens with a roof RoofPiq cannot price?

Very large and very small roofs are not priced automatically. The homeowner is told the job needs a person, and you still get the lead.

Will it work with my website?

The quote widget is one snippet and works on Squarespace, WordPress and most site builders. Leads reach you by email, with CRM connections on the way.

Can another site put my quote widget on its pages?

No. You list your own websites in the RoofPiq portal, and the widget only shows on those sites.

What is the RoofPiq field tool?

A sales tool for door-to-door reps. It opens on a map that follows the rep. They tap a house, answer three questions about stories, layers and pitch, and get a good, better, best estimate from the same price book as the website widget. The estimate opens as a one-page PDF and can be emailed or texted to the homeowner as a link.

Is the field tool an app store download?

No. It is a web app that a rep adds to the home screen of a phone or an iPad from the browser. It needs a signal to work: there is no offline mode.

What happens when nobody is home?

The rep can mail the estimate. It is a one-page letter with the price ranges, the rep's name and number, and a QR code that opens the estimate online. RoofPiq prints it in colour and posts it first class, and the rep can see when it is expected to arrive.

How can I try RoofPiq?

The home page at roofpiq.com has a live demo of the quote widget, set up for a made-up roofer called Peabody Roofing Company. You can also join the early-access list.

More on each part: the live widget demo, the field tool and the mailer.
